Update — October 10, 19:22 Guatemala time: Melee records a draw between Allan Ayapán and Dagoberto Silva at Table 1 in Round 8. That result brings Ayapán to 7–0–1 and 22 points. Final standings had not yet been published at this check.
How he reached the top: the Round 7 story
The report and tables below retain the Round 7 checkpoint from 18:34.
Guatemala has one of its own at the top of CAMS Regional Championship T13. Allan Ayapán beat ServantArcher1, playing Boros Control (Kaheera), 2–1 at Table 2 in Round 7 and took Esper Blink into first place. Seven wins, no losses, and 21 points: a day to celebrate, and a performance that gives the community reason to dream about what comes next.
His climb tells the story of the day: among 18 players at 3–0 after Round 3, Ayapán kept winning until he became the only player with seven victories after Round 7. He moved from third to first in one round. In a tournament with 184 enrolled players, his 14 game wins in 17 games—82.35%—show the scale of that run.
The geek corner: 21 points that open the door to the Top 8
There is another reason to celebrate, and it comes from the numbers. After seven rounds, eight players have at least 18 points; ninth place has 16. With one Swiss round remaining, that group can reach at most 19. Ayapán already has 21: under the eight-round schedule and normal scoring, he has mathematically secured a place among the Swiss Top 8.
The last round can still give him an even stronger finish: a win would take him to 24 points and a draw to 22. A loss would leave him on 21. His final position among the leaders remains to be decided; the definitive table had not yet been published when Melee was checked.
